Andrew I suggest you buy Cliff Charlesworth book Scale Model Gliders. I't should answer a lot of your question.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Scale-Model-Gliders-modellers-world/dp/0951058932/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1297272542&sr=8-1 .
I had to build washout in to the wing of my K8. But to try to describe it in words would take a very long time.

been workin on the K13 all week and it's startin to look like a K13
it's been sheeted with 1/16 balsa i've now got to install the servo's for the elevator and the rudder before sheeting the rest
bill has lent me the book cliff charlesworth wrote and i think i know how to build wash out in the wings  :?

i'm still buzzing after last weekend  :D i'm still on top of that tree   :D

ok Sam a few more pictures of the K13  :D
it's finally all sheeted now
i recieved a box of plywood and spruce from the balsa cabin at the end of last week so i'll be ready soon to start the wings

i've done the inside of the fuselage with fibre glass resin to add a bit of strenght
the sheeting is 1/16 balsa and i'm scared when the model is finished of putting my fingers through the bottom of the fuselage  :!:

hi andrew, k13 looking very good. hope you are enjoying the build. when i built my one, i used lots of diagonal bracing between the formers to help support the sheeting. if you check any full size k13's, (or any schleicher gliders ) you will see these diagonals in place. hope this helps, gb.

hey a big thanks to william and kate for today the day off i got the wing spars made and got the ribs all sorted

there's 27 ribs and the spar is made out of 1/8 spruce ,there is 3mm of wash out at the start of the aileron and 9mm at the tip

only thing that's bothering me at the moment is the dihedral

is that 3 degree's or is it 3" at the tip  #-o

Looking at the plan,….as I read it I’d say it was 3inches of dihedral at a distance of 30 inches presumably from the wing root. Although what significance 30 inches from the root would be I have no idea. :!:

Fred will tell you what it should be…………….FRED, oh FRED!!

Hi Andrew / Keith,

I'd say 3.3 degrees /wing (total of 6.6degrees diedhral).
But 3 inches at the tip is also plausible.

That's less than the real one by the way (5 degrees/wing). They have higher diedhral than the "norm" because of the swept wings.

Anyway, the diedhral should be built up on the ribs, where the wing joiner slide on the ribs if you see what I mean.

Hope this helps  :D
