While there wasn't enough lift to keep it aloft, the Skylark does fly (with a chuck from Ralph)...

I intend to make the 25 minute drive... I'm spoiled, but I hardly got up the Big L last year...  :(

The Skylark still needs it's maiden.

I took this from an article in the Telegraph...

The legally binding contract is complete when a retailer accepts an order. However, acceptance does not necessarily happen at the point of order. Even the confirmation email may not be an acceptance. Some retailers reserve the right to cancel an order up to the point of delivery. It is therefore important to carefully check the retailer’s terms and conditions (which must be available on their website) and emails – if a retailer simply acknowledges an order, there may be no contract at that point.

If you've paid, then check out the T&Cs, you might be entitled to it at the cost charged.

Scale / Re: Second plane... Step up to scale?

Keith, it's a you break it, you fix it rule...  :P

Unfortunately, I can't apply that to An Post. Arrived with a broken wingtip.  :(  And it wasn't for want of packaging.

Looks like Ralph is lighter by one plane and I have a WOT 4 in the hangar.

I'm really liking the look of that Kyosho Calmato!

I had also looked at the Ripmax Bullet. I had thought that "Sport" would have meant tricky, but perhaps that's the logical step before scale?

Scale / Second plane... Step up to scale?

Having solo'd on the Robbe, and with my Christmas bonus burning a hole in my pocket, I'm on the prowl for a "step up" plane....

I keep coming back to this little beauty.

I'd love this...

But I realise it's more than what I'd feel comfortable with losing should the dreaded happen, so no go.

Little Keith recommended the likes of a WOT4, but there don't seem to be any going second hand.  :(

And being able to pick up the one above for about €170, I'm very tempted.

I know low wing means less inherent stability and perhaps trickier to fly.

Any suggestions/advice?

Fred,

She's set up with the following:

Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 2836-1040kv
Electrifly 4s 45a silver series
10x6 prop
4000mAh 3s LiPo

Little Keith kindly took her up for a test flight a few weeks ago and gave advice on the niggles that needed sorting.

That done, I took my first solo with it...  I have to say, it's a lot more hands off that the MCAC club trainer!  I'm already looking for a progression plane...

Anyway, here's a pic and some videos.

Depending on where you look, the forecast is different...

Either way, I think the Skylark will have to wait for it's first flight. I don't fancy bringing home a bag of bits! :(

I'm afraid I didn't get much done over the summer, but as yesterday was miserable, what better that to try and get a bit more done?

I didn't have any balsa block to form the leading edge,  so I had to glue some together. Most of the support has been done for the port wing for the slanted tip. Takes a bit of time...  ;)

The wing ribs are balsa, so when removing the covering, the surface got rough.  They've all been topped with a thin veneer of strip balsa to smooth the surface.
