Scale / Old gliders Bocian
« on: July 15, 2020, 19:57:47 PM »
I placed a bid on an auction of Old Gliders of Poland
I ended up buying a 3.5m Bocian short kit for reasonable money.
All parts are CNC cut from 1/8 plywood and plans are very basic
Just wondering if anybody on here has ever built an Old Gliders model
Struggling to find a build thread anywhere 😲

Thermal / Flat field / Fresh Res glider
« on: October 19, 2019, 13:37:19 PM »
After having great success with the PURes V2 glider I managed to come across this kit on eBay and bought it real cheap
It's built similar to the PURes so it didn't take long to put together
I'm hoping it fly's just as good 😁😁😁😁😁

« on: September 08, 2019, 21:28:48 PM »
Won the Bunny Boyce 100s tankard today with my 2m PURes glider
Conditions were really challenging
Must say the wee model went up the winch line really well 😁

Thermal / Flat field / NI E-SOARING competition
« on: August 25, 2019, 17:49:48 PM »
Today was the Northern Ireland E-SOARING competition at the Belfast playing fields at mallusk
After 5 rounds I managed to win 3 of the 5 rounds and that got me into the 2 man fly off
Once again I met Keith Wilson flying an Explorer and this time I managed to get the better of him after the 2 rounds

Slope Soaring / Flexing wings
« on: May 26, 2019, 17:32:59 PM »
I was given this 1/4 scale Capstan recently that was built by a good friend of mine about 20 years ago
I flew it today and I noticed that the wings were flapping like a seagull
The main wing joiner is a 15mm steel rod in a brass box
How do I stop the wing flexing  it's really bad

Misceleanous / Free flight models
« on: June 03, 2018, 19:14:21 PM »
I'm totally new to flying free flight models although I've been building and flying rc models for donkeys years
I've built two Vic Smeed's Tomboy's and one is being powered by a Mills .75 and the other by a Paw 1cc
My big question is does free flight models have and elevator
I've used thin aluminium as a hinge for the rudder do I do the same for the elevator
Thanks
Andrew  :)

Now that solartex is a thing of the past what's the alternative
No doubt any stock that's left is going to be way over priced
