Well, it had to happen! Doing my own 3D things!
Wanted to try to make airbrakes arms for the Grunau and Ka8.
Did a test file, printed in PLA. This is 2mm thick, and conducted a destructive test. Pretty happy with the results I have to say.
Now trying to do it from my dxf files. Then import in Sketchup. Export in 3D in meshlab, then in STL, then Cura, and finally print!
Stay tuned for more:)

Hi Fred.
I'm fascinated by these 3D printers. What printer are you using????

Oh and Happy New Year to you...... 8)

Drat! Just spotted your other post ......... ;D

::) Yep, that one! :)
Happy New Year to you too and all the family :D
So, I learnt how to do 3D stuff from my DXF! Results!!
So, in order:
Import the dxf in Skethup
Make it something you can work with and do the proper height (2mm here)
Export in 3D, and check the file in Meshlab, and save as STL
Open in Cura, and set the usual stuff. In this case, Fill at 100% (solid), print at 60mm/s, table at 60 degrees, PLA at 200 and extrusion at 105%.
Medium quality print, because I like when that go quick!
12 minutes for 2 arms the system is telling me, so we'll see!
Printing...
Fingers crossed! If it works, happy! Not that hard after all :)

Results!! :)
Now, best 150€ Spent last year!
Really not hard to do your own files, at least, for me for these basic shapes!
I can do dashboards, scale details etcetc now, so stay tuned for more experiments!
I put these files later for download.

Ok, still learning this 3D file thing, I think I see what I did wrong, I try again tomorrow, but very happy with this failure :)

Wish my failures were that good! ;)

Thanks Sverrir, you're very good :) but looks better in photo than in reality!
Anyway! Prigress, and relatively happy this time. I'm getting there :)
Printed in lower resolution as I think the grain will look nice once painted. I try to give it a go this weekend :)
Stay tuned!

Feck it! Started the painting before I have to go back to work!
Hope that dry fast!
Humbroll Matt 78 here.

And a bit more :)
Light wash with humbrol 11, bit of pale white, sky blue and gloss varnish where needed.
Looks the part already!
Just have to print the dials and make the glass, but that will be for another day :)

Happy with the results, and for once, the photo don't do justice to it, looks much better in real life.

Upping my 3D skills a bit! :-[
1/3 and 1/4 Glider Harness for my scale gliders/pilots.

Ok, 90% perfect!
The circle under the release mechanism is hollow for some reasons!
Time to check how to fix that bit :)
Other than that, very happy!
Metallic grey PLA ordered, and I think I found the right material for the seat belts! :)
Stay tuned!
