Title: A proper Irish Slope week end :)
Post by: Fred on July 01, 2013, 14:27:54 PM
Slope soaring Ireland style this week end for me  :D

Went flying Saturday at the Dublin slope in Kilakee (westerlies!!)...
Only to find out that the top of the mountain was in the cloud.. with light drizzle...
Launched a glider anyway  :D  When all wet, direction the Johnnie Fox for a pint of Guinness.
On Sunday, much better weather, still Westerlies, this time, PSS  :D  (should have brought something bigger! was not expecting that much wind up there   )
On the way back.. Irish dancing!  :D
And a Guinness  :D

Feel good week end.. I had to share!

What a lovely time you had Mon Ami. :D

Whilst I can understand the second picture entirely :)  I’m not too sure what I’m looking at in the first picture. :?
I can se a PSS model, with some hills in the background and grass in the foreground, but have you been out sprinkling white fluffy things on the hillside? :?:
Looks to me like wool, but I’m thinking that if sheep had been in the field the grass wouldn’t be anywhere near so long. Nice snap anyway. :D

(Pity you didn’t join in the Irish dancing, I’d have liked to see you in a little dress! :P )

Thanks Keith :)
Yeah, great week end flying!
The slope is 10 minutes from the house, but like you, after all these years, first time I see this fluffy stuff up there!
I could see a few patches of them down the valley too  :?:

We are not alone  :D (lots of viewing, visitors still)
Holidays and all that, and quiet, means people are flying! Better to spend time outdoor than in front of a computer  :D  :D  :P
I say that, watching the rain pouring on top of the mountain  :!:  :!:

Not at the w/end Fred :( , but I had a few hours on Monday and I’m going up to the Big L again today. :D  (Think of me while you’re in your office, Ha! )

Conditions were only light the other day, but the P6 managed to stay aloft with a little increased wing camber. I’ll probably only get the Riser airborne today, the winds are very light at the moment.

Just changing topics,……Had a email from Joe the other day. He’s still earning a fortune travelling around the world and promises to ‘pop down to the slopes’ at sometime in the future. Maybe we’ll see him at the September Glide-In!

Must have just missed you Fred on Saturday last at Kilakee.  Had good conditions and flew my P6 mid-afternoon for half an hour. Cloud was just clearing when I got up so perhaps you were there earlier. Nice picture of the bog cotton.
