Title: Diamond Tape
Post by: Happy Days on November 20, 2014, 22:31:09 PM
As most of you will know by now, Sellotape are no longer producing “Diamond” hinge tape. :(

This is the only type of hinging that I use because it’s easy, (suits me) quick, (just like me) and makes for a completely draught proof hinged joint.  I’ve just finished my last roll of the stuff.

However  ! This company still has some, :D  so hurry, hurry, hurry and get some while you can. I’ve ordered two rolls, coz I’m greedy! :P

Howdy Keith,

Strangely enough, Diamond tape never worked very well for me :(

So I stick to Blenderm, to me, still the best stuff for Hinges and more (my car front grill actually hold with Blenderm for the past 2 years now  :D ). I have some on some 15+ years old gliders, and still sticky like the first day :)

Anyway, I've heard of an alternative to Diamond Tape that was as good, if not the same stuff under a different name, but I cannot remember! I try to use my brain cell, I'll post if I manage to remember  :!:

Fred,
Your car is held together with sticky tape!!!

I trust you will be pointing this out to the examiner when the car comes up for it’s next NCT.

Bill,
I didn’t know it could still be procured (that was a posh word wasn’t it  ,… silly me.) I thought I’d done rather well finding even one source. So hopefully stocks of “Diamond” will last for quite a time yet. 8)

Yep!  :D
That prove 2 things:

1-> Blenderm is great! 2 years in the rain, dirt, sun, wind (motorways) and the blenderm is still sticky.

2-> I am not a car buff  :D  (should see me at the dealership with a wing. Picked the car that would fit my biggest wing without moving a seat) My car is just a glider transportation vehicle :)

Like you Fred, I’m no car buff either. To me all cars are just bubbles of tin on four wheels. After all, when you’re stuck in a traffic jam the Porsche or maserati may be in front of you, but they’re not getting to their destination any sooner than you are.

(Like you I also measured my car to ensure it could handle my models. :D  But I used a pocket measuring tape. )

My last car, the guy was telling me all about the color (don't care, I'm inside), the seats, the noise etc etc...
Said nothing, just pull a big wing out of my car (crystal wing), asked him to open the boot, put the wing inside. That fitted between the boot and the back of the front seat (2.5m long :) ).
And deal.
No other question asked... Priceless face of the salesman!  :D
