Tountinna Gazette 2021.....
Thought I’d restart our old contribution and keep people updated on happenings on TT.
Mostly photos and maybe some comments thrown in for good measure.
We started back only in recent weeks, so these are the first photos of 2021.....

Some more....
These are Elan 100 2ch gliders from Cambrian Models. Middle 2 are electric and all fly beautifully.

And lucky you! Still haven't flown anything this year :'( :'(

Thanks lads.
Ralph, all GG’s are welcome on TT regardless of how clean or unclean they are....even if they come from Cork!!
Let me know when you’re thinking of coming up and I’m sure we’d be delighted to meet up

What a day!! Glider Guider Gathering, Saturday 12th June 2021. On Tountinna.
23 pilots, a least 50 gliders, + hang gliders,+ paragliders, + hill walkers.
Thanks to everyone who traveled and took part in our annual gathering. It was great to see so many faces we haven’t seen for so long, looking forward to doing it all again next year.
Regards, Gerry Buckley
Some photos…..people first……

Hi Ger,
I had a great time also. Looking forward to catching up again some Wed evening.

Thanks Gerry for the hospitality. Eoin clocked up a lot of flying off of the point. Great spot for smaller gliders!
-
Again, great everyone seemed to have a great time.
Everyone is more than welcome to join us for our mid-week gliding session. These days, we meet about 2pm and fly until about 8.30 ish. Usually of a Wednesday, but if the forecast isn’t great for Wednesday we move to Thursday.
Anyone interested, please contact me and I’ll let you know what the plan is.
Regards, GB

Great photos. I'd love to have gone but a family holiday got in the way! Friends of mine live in killaloe and i have flown my homebuild foam wing there. I might have passed one of you lads. He was in a silver renault megane i think? Back of it FULL of aviation goodies!

Its an amazing place and i hope to fly there again.

Fantastic photos!
-
Cheers Ollie! Unfortunately, bad light on the day :(
-
I used to do photography, i feel your pain!
I was in nz years ago and was at the wrc rally. My photos were epic. Someone said they even looked professional!
Its the light. The grey here just hurts.
-
True! Light is very important! I am far from being even an amateur :( bless the digital age! Take 200 photos, to get 10 decent if lucky! ;D Argentic had to be careful! Those were the days!! :(
By the way, forgot I took photos from my phone too! So here are a few more :)
By the way 2… did any married men felt the disturbance in the force yesterday???
-
We’re still flying on Tountinna every Wednesday afternoon. So far, we’ve been very lucky with the weather.
Some photos from recent days………
-
During the summer, Philip Kieran and myself often got flying off the coast on Loop Head. Light winds, perfect for some floaty type models.
-
This was our gathering yesterday afternoon. Hard to believe we’re coming to the end of October with such fine weather….
-
Excellent photos!

Hi all,
Just thought I’d share some photos of models being built by the TT brigade over the winter.
First up is Denis Kelly’s Slingsby ‘Eagle’ from the Mike Trew plan. I’m not sure of the exact span, but it’s about 3.5m.
Next is Philip Hickey’s ASK 18 from the Cliff Charlesworth plan and Laser Cut Sailplanes semi-kit. 4m span
3rd is Pete Townsend’s 1:3.5 ASK 18. Can’t remember who does the kit, but at over 4.5m, this is a big model!
Last one up is my own Slingsby T21 Sedberg. 1:4 sc, 4m span, from the Frank Albrecht kit.
All models progressing nicely and should be ready to fly by the start of next season.
Regards, Gerry Buckley

Some very impressive modelling Gerry (and friends).
Fine workshops too - particularly the one with the AGA!

Hi all, a little update on new models on Tountinna. 3 of the 4 have been built, finished and flown successfully. They are a real pleasure to fly, and are now some of our first choice models to bring to TT.
Some photos to follow, hopefully they will appear.
Also included, a trio of Slingsbys. L to R… T21, T42, T30
Just a reminder, we plan to hold our second Glider Guider Gathering on TT on Saturday 7th September. All GG’s are welcome to attend. Looking forward to seeing you on the hill.
Regards, Gerry B.
-
Very nice Ger. Good to see there's some building still going on. I don't think I'll make the 7th Sept but hope you have a good day
-
Thanks Bill.
Yea, lots of building and slope flying all summer down our way.
Not finished yet either, still looking forward to some autumn flying in the weed to come.
-
Hopefully, we’ll be staying out of the ‘weeds’

!!
Meant to say ‘weeks to come’
