Well, we’re flying!

Plenty of spills and thrills today.
Lots of flying an a bit of walking by a few of us.
All fed and watered, lets see what day 2 delivers

Just home last night from a great weekend in Cork.
Many thanks to Fred and Ralph for the towing and the CMAC for the use of their flying site.
3 or 4 flights on Saturday with the ASW 17 with plenty of thermals about, at one point we had 4 gliders in the air at the same time and a flight that lasted for about 40 min only ended out of choice.
I had one attempted flight with the SG-1 which towed up perfectly only to go out of control once released and it spun to the ground, on retrieval it was somehow still in one piece but missing the pilot. I suspect that the lack of a qualified pilot and the resulting rearward cg caused my problems. One flight for me on Sunday before rain shut us down, I think that John and Ralph had two flights each.
Monday a nice sunny morning and we arrive on site around 10.15 am rig up and for some strange reason Ralphs tug fails to start despite everyone's best efforts to help. We start to pack up our large models and plan to fly some electric powered planes instead.
John heads off home and Richard has some flights with his Macchiato before having to leave. I had continued to pack up when Brendan arrived with his tug I decided to rig the ASW 17 again. By this time Ralphs tug was running once more and both Brendan and myself had a great afternoon flying. I had nine flights and Brendan had quite a few also, very week thermals if any were found and all flights were quite short resulting in a big improvement in my landings.
Already looking forward to the July event and hopefully one in Roundwood at the end of the month.
Thanks again to all
Joe

Apologies for my delay in replying, first I would like to thank Dave Duff from the CMAC and his wife for the work done to prepare the site for the weekend making all the facilities clean for the weekend.
Secondly I would like to thank CMAC for once again hosting us for the weekend.
I would like to thank Fred for all the towing all weekend and also for all the pilots who participated over the weekend. Without them the event would not happen, Fred, Richard, Brendan, Joe and John
Finally my towplane got to see some action on the Monday and as Joe said Brendan and Joe had a good bunch of flights.
Once again looking forward to seeing everyone again.
Ralph
