Title: Flair K 8
Post by: rogallo on September 29, 2006, 13:32:22 PM
Hi there,
just wondering if anyone has built the Flair K8. I started mine 2 1/2 years ago and still tipping away. Lost interest, lost my way but still intend to Finish.
I also have a West Mendip Sailplanes HS101 Salto (again a work in progress)
Well Hope to hear from someone with the building blues too!
Ralph

Fancied a flair Ka8 for a while now.So if ya can't be bothered finishing it!
It think Flair will be making them available again soon.I spoke to them and they said they had new kits cut and were just waiting for canopies and air brakes. We shall see.
I may have to hold out and see if a friend of mine can cut me one!

I hope to build one over the winter from the Cliff Charlsworth plan,(at the speed I build models it may take longer  :) ).

Sorry I have been out of the loop for so long. I have been quit unwell the last few week (spent three weeks in hospital) and it looks like I will be unwell for a few weeks more. So you won't see me flying for a while.

I'm back, wings dusted off and the fuse is now looking like a plane ( and not a box of matches) The plan is to be flying within the next 6 weeks :D  :D  :D
Only a few years of a break. So what colour scheme.... I was thinking of this one   http://gliding.tardis.ed.ac.uk/database/Page/view/homepage

thoughts???

hi ralph,
welcome back to the building board! you're dead right about not showing your bits in public, especially coming into the winter. re colours of k8... i think alan's k8 is based on the dublin gliding club's 'yellow 8', so if you did yours as their 'red 8', we would have my k13 and k18, alan's k8 and your own k8 all in the dgc colours. what do you think?

Hi Ger, yes winter is coming and me bits would not be a pretty sight!
As for colours I have no pics of the DGC K8, this is one of the reasons for going with the alt scheme, plenty of pics available. Also I have 20M of white solartex and want to use some up
Anyhoo I'll see if anyone has pics of the red K8 I would love to have a look.

Cheers

I'm here  :D
Sorry, lots of work (finished at 2am yesterday  :!:  :!: ) and now sick ! (big cold!)

In my opinion (all personnal!  :P ), please, not white or yellow ! Ka8 are like the Ka6, they are all white or yellow !
For a change :

You can steal some "Musger green" from Barry on that one !  :P

But I have to say that can be cool to have all the gliders of the DGC reproduced... Can be a cool photo to do with the full size ones!  :D

I was looking at those pics and thinking, "that's a HELL of a lot of dihedral!" until I realised it was left wing of one plane and right wing of another

progress.........

now to finish painting the wings!

Anyone know where to get 1 inch elephant tape? I can get 4 inch rolls but it is a 1/4 scale glider and needs the tape for a few repair patches
