How to... / Wing joiners

I'm planning to build a 3 meter aileron/flap glider. Planning for a 3 piece wing with center section and wing tips. Its an all balsa ply model with a pod and boom fuselage. there is no dihedral angle where the outer panels join the center. I was hoping to use rectangular brass tube with 2 layers of 1/16" aluminium strip epoxied to ply to make up the thickness.
I used this method in the Bird of Time but wondered if it would be strong enough for an aileron model.
I know that Gliders do a steel and brass wing joiner but I only need about 16 inches.
regards
Bob
