Electrics / Re: New build - RCME Bambina

Thank you Keith! Having checked the specs of the motor I purchased, I find it can only tolerate 7.4V, not the 11.1V I need.   :-[  The appropriate motor has now been purchased.

A bit more work finishing off the bottom of the fuselage this evening and sanding the LE and wingtips to the correct shape.  I think I'm mostly there.

It is easier in an assigned area... It just needs assigned time!  But, I can't complain, she did donate the heater!  Unless she intends to make me move into the attic...  :'(

The motor was selected based on the specs supplied on the plan. I'm going to make the cowl removable, somehow, so that I can change it out, if I need to.  But I'm hoping I picked correctly!  You are perfectly correct, Keith, the wing is still "in progress" for sanding.

Hopefully all the pictures are visible now!  I changed the hosting and also attached directly here.  Overkill, perhaps.

Anyway, I shall duly continue with attaching photos here.

The LE is closer to it's final shape and it seems to fit the fuselage rather cleanly.

The motor is miniscule, but is supposed to be capable of chucking out 135W!  :o  It'll be running off an 18A ESC and a 7.4v 800mAh lipo.  The mount is fitted to the firewall, but the grub screws need an allen key of <1mm!  Fitting could be a problem...

Thankfully, I seem to have been capable to keep everything square and tidy.  I think building is strange in that you don't seem to make much progress any night I get to it, yet it's taking shape really quickly.

I'll have to fix the photos...
I thought I'd be smart and use Google Photos, but while I can see see the photos, it looks like the rest of you can't.  :(

What's the forum hosting? Using the attachments?

Vital addition to the "shed"  ::)  A heater!

I know self-praise is no praise, but it's certainly a lot tidier than building the skylark!

Wing assembly is complete.  The upper side of the LE is roughly formed, so the final shaping is next on the agenda.

Finally got back into the (cold) attic again for another few nights of small bits and pieces.

Upper wing centre sheeting

Wingtips

Wing underside sheeting started...

And finished.

Back to the fuselage, with the rear lower decking getting glued in...

And a test fit of where the wing servo will go...

Fast? Perhaps in time spent actually building... I've had the model for s month so far.

I'll post the finished item when I get to that stage...  ;)

I know it's not ideal perhaps in Irish weather, but at £15 for the laser cut kit, I decided it's worth a shot.

It's slow going with perhaps 10 minutes in an unheated attic at a time.  Not because I'm a wuss and can't handle the cold...  ;). Well, maybe partially that.

Started off with the fuselage... Didn't have anything else square to hold the corners in place...

But it seems to be square...   :D

Started on the wing to allow procrastination for fitting the motor.

Then the other, and join them.  Which I think may have been a mistake, since I need to shape the leading edge yet.

None the less, onto the tail plane and fin...

At 31" wingspan, she's a dinky little thing.  3 axis stabilisation will likely be required...

How to... / Repair Wot4 vertical stabiliser...

It turns out that if the grass is too long for takeoff, it's also too long for landing...  :-[

So, what's the best method of repair?  Will it be as easy as I think; a little CA or epoxy and put the wood back in place?  It's broken the wood where the hinges are.

Guys, I've asked about obtaining foam board from the company I work for... It's been used to display information around the company temporarily and is likely to be binned.

If I am permitted to take it off site (i.e. no sensitive information on it), then would anyone be interested in sheets? Most likely A2 size.

I'll let you know how it goes...

Also... Any good plans for me to try working with it too? :)

Mount Leinster is still out there somewhere, but it is due to clear up soon...

I don't know, Keith... It's faster for me to go up from the Bunclody side, so I don't know about the Kiltealy side.

Still, it was a fine day until the rain started with oodles of lift.

I thought it was this weekend... And I'm only heading up there now. Oh well, I'll go next weekend too. Today's too good to waste!

Yep...  Bought one to try out.

Only just got my work bench set up in the attic, so now I can work at it.

Also got the Wot wingtip to fix.
