Mt Leinster 23-24 Sept?
Is this date definite? Know there has been some talk that it's very close to Falaise and possibly pushing it back a bit

Just checking as I've other things to organise around the same time and don't want to clash.

Yep, that meeting is still a go at these dates - No changes
Education is important, but flying RC planes and gliders is importanter!

Is the road up to nine stones open David? I tried to get up there yesterday and the road was closed due to re-surfacing! :(

I don't know, Keith... It's faster for me to go up from the Bunclody side, so I don't know about the Kiltealy side.

Still, it was a fine day until the rain started with oodles of lift.

So did anyone get any flying in those rather "Gusty" winds of yesterday?

At the moment Big L looks rather cloud covered from my place. Anyone going up there this morning?

A very enjoyable day spent on the west slope. Overcast with gentle breezes at first followed by sunny, although lighter conditions, later. Polyhedrals' became very popular in the afternoon hunting for those elusive thermals and the little slope lift that could be found.
The warm sunshine helped to top up our fading sun tans as October approaches coupled with some lively banter and discussion which always accompanies such meetings the hours tripped by quite quickly.

Nice to meet up again Lads, looking forward to the next one! ;)

That's the final Mt Leinster event of 2017 in the books and despite a lack of flying, the company & the craic more than made up .

Saturday was probably a very good flying day if you had a wing loading of 6kg/m2! but none of us fly anything like that. Wind speeds in excess of 60km/hr were measured on the hill with gusts far in excess of this!

Saturday night I spent in the company of Fred, Ralph, John & Roisin having a lovely meal in the hotel and then dessert and a few drinks in Moss House.  The craic was mighty and the alcohol flowed.

Sunday we woke to light rain, which slowly stopped while we ate breakfast in the newly opened Mango Tree cafe. Well worth a visit. The owner met all requests with a "yes, no problem"

We then decamped to the west slope where the breeze was slightly off the slope and in single figures. Lighter models were managing to fly with thermal soarers doing the best, the breeze picked up a little and few genuine slope models got an airing. I managed to maiden my Island Models Micro Fox, a few tweaks and it will be a lovely flying model (couple of warps I need to take out).  Fred flew his Airtech Pixel, a wingeron model which did well. He also flew his ASW15. But the main words out of his mouth all weekend were, (I have Taborca). For those who don't know this is a HUGE flying wing, all moulded, made by LET in the Czech Republic. He doesn't have it set up on his radio yet, so it didn't fly.

So all in all a good weekend, despite the weather!

My thanks to John & Roisin Pearson for giving me a lift, without them I wouldn't have been able to get down this weekend as my car has expired  :-\ :(
