Mini Pilatus B4 SilenceModel
« on: January 12, 2023, 20:58:40 PM »
Because I need more gliders! Not!

Alright that one is small, so that’s my excuse! This is one of the proto I have for a while now, and seeing the January weather, better get occupied indoor.

Fuselage is fibre, everything else is built from balsa or plywood. Wings are Quadro also, so that should be interesting!

Not much to say, build is dead easy and moving along. Just the wings to finish now really.

Thanks Ralph 😀

Build moving along with no issues.
Here are the wings. They are built on the sheeting. No plan needed, everything is drawn on the balsa, so that’s handy 👍

Did not took long to do the halves. Then lot of sanding, followed by tge top sheeting with white glue latter this week.

Then elevator glued together followed by a roughly cut canopy… so we can have a sneaky look at what the finished model will look like. That’s not going to take a lot of room for sure!

Thanks Bill. It is full option, like a big one, so that’s going to be interesting!

Not much done today, too cold to do sanding outside, just glued the elevator rod support only to find the plastic rod was very brittle! Broke in a few places, so now, looking for plan B 🤬

Finally back at it!

Couples of jobs done today, with the wing sheeting/sanding, and are now ready to be covered.
On the fuselage front, decided to put a wheel like the first Pilatus version. Because why not, and also looks better in my opinion 😁

And lastly, elevator screw insert and control snake are in.

Very little left to do at last, and should be ready for next weekend 😀🤞

Thanks to our great weather, bit of work done on the Pilatus.

Everything is sanded before covering.
Servos are then installed using the very handy 3D printed servi frames by Jean-Louis Coussot! Handy and all fits perfectly. For once, I used what the wings were designed for, and the wing is equipped with 4 HS40, so full options wings.
Commands are basic Z bends, because slip free, nice and simple :)

Also prepared the elevator for tomorrow’s jobs with gluing the epoxy control horn.

Getting there! 😁

Bit more work over the last 2 days 😀

Elevator is now moving, and so as the rudder, so that’s the electronic and moving thingy done!
On the photo of the servos, that extra black screw is a spare for the elevator, because we never know… and I have big fingers 😁

Tonight’s work was to print the canopy frame and a pilot. Frame from Jean-Louis Coussot and pilot from me.
Bit of painting and cutting of the canopy and tomorrow, we should start to glue some stuff and work on the CG.
Getting there!
