One more thing guys, that's just come to mind,........

MCFC rules state that all visiting pilots, (that wish to fly from the club's ground) must be insured. So please bring your valid MACI cards with you if you intend to fly from the field.

Hi Keith,

And I will also encourage people to take the MCFC membership if you want to see the towing/flat field activities to develop in the future  :D

And once again, thanks to Brian and the MCFC club members to welcome us (silent flyers, but we can be noisy on the field!  :P )

Bring your old one Alan and I'm sure you will be fine. New cards should be here any day now.

As far as the aerotowing was concerned that was a partial success, I'd say. Although perhaps more of a learning curve

Seems to me three things would benefit from improvement.

Clearly velcro was never designed as a repalcement for a towing hook, and for future use any glider that's looking to hitch-hike a lift behing a powered plane would benefit greatly from having such a hook.

Secondly the  "Tug" can never have too much power. I'll bring a plane with a bit more thrust next time.

And thirdly, for the benefit of the slightly heavier gliders, a take off trolly would make the initial start of the take off run easier.

As for actualy flying an aerotow, that's a different way of flying. Both for the tug and glider pilot, requiring some "mutual understanding"

All interesting stuff, and part of life's rich experience :D So lets build on what was learned yesterday and look to the future!

Thanks for the aerotow Keith. It was good fun. I wish I could have got more flights in.

I have one thing to add to you aerotow suggestions. I would recommend that the glider been towed should have ailerons. It gives better control in my option. A glider with just elevator and rudder control can be aerotowed,  but has a tendency to wobble all over the place.

Well, what a day !!
Kind of days that remind me I'm not 20 years old anymore ! (that was hard the next morning! :P )

First of all, thanks to the guys at the MCFC to welcome us once again !
A nice day, lots of models, lots of action ! Good recipe for an excellent day !

Thanks to Keith for the multiple tows performed during the day, to Joe to show us that Silent flying is definitively the future  :P   and finally Brian for the muscle tow with the Zeque ! (and not affraid to put a 4mtrs glider, absolutely not setup, behind his fine model!).
Thanks also to Dennis who joined us for the day.

Peter had some good flying too with the bungee launch, unfortunately, the day was really poor in thermals, the sun deciding not to show up as expected!

I don't have a lot of photos (ok, none...), was too busy flying ! But I have some good videos ! I'll put them later, at some stage, but here are some frames from the video :

Then, we've headed to the slope (told you, great day!  :D ) where we had a guest, coming from Britany, Michel Leroyer, and his wife, Monique.
Well, all I have to say, is that I took a lesson in piloting ! 4 points rolls VTPR style with a 4.5mtr Discus, well, you have to see it!
And I think this is the first time we applauded a landing ! (why are you never do that when I land a glider in one piece ??  :P   ), all in the video anyway. And I think his last landing, going full throttle on top of Nine Stones, I think will also stay in memories !

Thanks Michel !
Michel left this morning, heading to the cliff of Moher, and I hope to see all the Britany guys next year !

So, once again, thank you all !

When are we doing it again ??  :D  :D

PS : Remember, 2 weeks time, our first ISR Glide-in of the year, with the first Race Meeting ! More details tomorrow  :D

  :P  Well, that was the only glider that don't really glide  :P  :P
I think you landed well before the tug  :P

Alright so, for the 2ch gliders, I'll do a "portage" (?) system, even if I don't really like them, we've always had a bit of trouble with them...  :?:

:P  :P  Well, yes !
No music at work today for some reasons, or crappy stuff...

Just silent flight, the sound of silence, just to pinpoint that the future IS electric !  :P

I'm out of excuses...  :D

:P  :P  Yup. It's not very aerodynmicaly efficient. But it Flys.
Great video by the way.
