Another Fun day on Slieve Gallion
« on: August 31, 2011, 07:35:03 AM »
August Bank Holiday Monday, (monday past)
A few off the die hard glider men took to the Mountain at Slieve Gallion
JP, Bill, Steve, Terry and myself had some of the best lift of the summer months on the the mountain.
Winds were blasting in from the North West so we were able to fly one off the big slopes. Rain did appear from time to time and the temperature was 8 DC but it did not put us old timers off  :)
JP flew his fox and £30 plane (name unknown)
Bill flew his home brew glider
Steve just got frozen
Terry flew his amazing flying ST Fox
Richard flew his Fox plus the wee DS Birdy.

I never took the camera out of the bag as I was again having too much fun flying.
Thankfully Terry took a video of some of the action.
Maybe JP and Bill can also post a pic or 2 !!!!!!!! please

Here is Terrys unedited video,

Phew! A 26 minute flying video, bit of an epic.  (The “War & Peace” of the aero model world! )
Wish I’d been there with you, you seemed to have plenty of lift. 8)  Shame about the rain.

I liked the Fox duet sequence,  you could put the music of ‘swan lake’ to that.
And as for poor ol’ JP launch that blew back, ,,,,, Did you manage to save it John, or did it land ignominiously in the pond?

Will we be seeing you all at the September fly in? :D

FOX DUET !!!!!!!!!!!
I would love to try and get a 4min flight rehearsed to music.
JP is also interest.
First we need to get the planes flying properly, I have only about 20 flights so far and it usually takes me 30 plus flights before I get my planes trimmed and tinkered to fly correctly.
I try not to use mixes, usually do all manual tinkering and as a last resort then I mix on the tranny! sorry transmitter, I have to remember it is Keith I am talking too lol

Just on the point of a 4 min duet vid.

Remember, the planes wouldn’t actually have to be flying together for the whole duration. In fact it would help if they were only flying in sequence for a minute or two at a time so the camera man, (Er,.... sorry that should read ‘camera person’ to be politically correct. ) has time to change positions for different shots, thereby adding visual variety to the final video.

If the wind's blowing well at the Sep fly-in, and if anyone has a decent camera, we could have bash at it then.

As for Tx mixes, I’ve never used any. I get confused which mixes I have ‘on’ at any one time. :!:  Best not to have any! That’s my advise. :D

Fly by the seat of your pants!! (unless you're wearing a Kilt  )

I look forward to having a bash at the flying at Mt L !!!!!!!!!
I have a new go pro camera and its great for close in shots, as for onboard ,I have yet to find a suitable way to mount it on the 3.2m Fox.

For video tips I find this guy invaluable !!!!!!!!!!
Hope it helps some others out there

Not quite sure how to embed it here, so here's the link:
