dead cell in a 4-cell pack
« on: May 20, 2010, 21:46:01 PM »
Hello there,

I just discovered that  my 1 year/2 flights old 4-cell Rhino Zippy 2350
got a dead cell :(
The cell #3 is completely flat, in fact it has about 0.4v negative(!) voltage.
The pack was absolutely fine November last, when I had it fully charged.
It was sitting in a box for the winter.

Trying now to charge it using balancing charger -the charger just ignores #3 .
I wonder if there is any future for this pack apart from going to the salty bath ?

just got it charged - looks like a 3-cell pack with 0.5v lower voltage

I have one here the same.
It's 2200mah 3S - 1S dead...

I know that sometimes is possible to bring it back to life, giving few charge at a time to that cell only, but as usually with LiPo's it's a risky process and slow...
The idea is to bring it up to a higher voltage and then charge it normally.
