New to Ireland
« on: October 02, 2007, 15:38:12 PM »
Hello everyone !
I am new to Ireland from France.
I fly for Aer arann as a Captain and quite new to Rc models.
Just bought an Easyglider combo with radio package that I flew 3 times and managed to crash not to badly, so it is still ok.
I live in Crosshaven and if anyone pratising RC is around drop a message it would be nice to meet new people.
Cheers,
Jerome.

Fred,
It is not to far from Kinsale about 15 min right after Carrigaline on the shore.
I am pretty sure there are good slopes around here. I let you no what I find.
I Usually try to spot them from the air while shooting approaches to Runway 35 in Cork.
Been Unlucky so far to access these spots as all are surrounded by fences.
See you soon,
Jerome.
PS: I heard theres a model club in Cork but can t find a website via google.
Anyone would know how to contact them ?

Yep, you have Kinsale, really good spot !
Go to Kinsale and head for the golf club. You have a ruin castle in a field before the golf club. You can fly here (check for some photos on my website)

For the CMAC, contact Ralph (Rogallo on the forum), he will be able to help you as they often fly in Kinsale and around. You have a good bunch of guys flying gliders there !  :D

Thanks Fred,
I clicked the link but it seems to lead to a commercial thing.
I can get a date, a used car or rent one but nop, no RC club...
I ll get in touch with Ralph then.

Welcome to Ireland and the Forum, Jerome!

The Old Head of Kinsale that Fred mentioned is a fantastic spot - smooth, huge lift!  Works in South-westerly winds.

The link to the 'Around Cork' site works fine, but from there clicking on the  link to go to the model club goes to www.corkmodelaeroclub.org.
Unfortunately that domain name seems to be owned by... and here's the 'whois' info...

Domain Name:CORKMODELAEROCLUB.ORG
Created On:14-Nov-2006 18:55:40 UTC
Last Updated On:08-Jun-2007 02:14:22 UTC

Registrant Name:Web Advertising, Corp.
Registrant Street1:Kings Court, Bay Street
Registrant Street2:P.O. Box N-3944

Registrant State/Province:-
Registrant Postal Code:-
Registrant Country:BS
Registrant Phone:+852.30162320
Registrant Phone Ext.:
Registrant FAX:+852.30162320

So it's owned by an advertising agency and registered in Nassau.
There are lots of people out there who buy up domain names when they lapse, and hope to sell them at a profit.

Looks like the Cork club need a new domain name and site.

Ron.
