Anyone up for gliding tomorrow (Bank Holiday Monday) in the Dublin area?  I plan to go to Kilakee - wind looks NW.  I aim to get there around 11.00am.

Alright so, went flying with Peter yesterday !  :D

Very calm and quiet day !
We flew at the North slope in Kilakee.. That was a long time since I flew at this slope !
Grass is very high (like everywhere else in Kilakee ! Good for landings !!  :P ) and the wind was really light, and going lighter the day passing by.

Good exercise for a change !
I flew my Algebra, and I'm quiet happy with it ! 2mm flaps down and you can thermal at really low speed for this type of machine ! My new "bring it everywhere" machine !

Peter flew with grace his thermal machines, catching thermals like there was no tomorrows !

On my way home (Peter, traitor ! he stays beind to go flying again !! You said that is a drug ??  :P  :D ) I met Fon (hope I get the speling right !) on the West slope.
After a nice chat, brought him at the North slope and I decided to stay, burning more brownies points !  :D

Fon designed a glider, made out of Carbone rods, Depron's wings and bits of basla.
2 channels (Rudder/Elevator).

Manage to fly it rather well, considering the very low lift we had that day !

Well done Fon, hope to see you next time at the slope with hopefully more lift !

And that's it for now from me !

Nice pics Fred.
And I envy you that nice long grass :)

All this thermal stuff has finally inspired me to take the motor and batteries out of the Nebula.
Should 'sail' better that way.
Now of course it balances near the trailing edge, so the servos will have to come forward and ...... (tails off into quiet contemplation of more balsa and glue) :?:

Great pictures Fred - that was a good days flying.  Not done much of late as I have not been around at weekends and it has been pretty busy at work.  Hope to get over the bank holiday weekend at the end of the month - weather permitting.
