I hate to be negitive guys, but if the wind stays as predicted for the weekend I don't think anyone will be flying at Mt. Lienster. East - south east winds = no lift!

Any other direction would provide some degree of lift, but at the moment they are predicted to be from the worst possible direction.

Let's all sit tight and watch the weather forecasts for the next few days :(

(Woe is Me)

So wing guru is now saying that the wind will shift  around to the North on Sunday. Lets see what happens in the next day or two.

Hi Ralph,

Unfortunately, only Saturday for me !

Weather is looking like the same we had last May, when the Frenchies were here !  :D

So, I'll bring a bit of everything with me for flying!
Will be up there early to have the most of the day!

If the wind goes round to the north a bit on Sunday afternoon I'll be up at Big L. But Saturday looks very "ifee" for me. :( I'm not really into thermals.

Pitty the winds are in this rotten direction

So here is the story so far..
Saturday looks like the windier day with lighter winds on Sunday turning north-easterly in the evening. Below are the options slope wise but we will have to see when we get there as last year I believe the winds were similar and people flew thermals from the north facing slope with great success!!
I am good for Saturday but not sure about Sunday at the moment.

Option one.
There is a south-east bowl on the top of Mt Leinster. Unfortunately we don't have a key so we can't drive up. This would mean a good walk. The PG/HG guys reckon it is good but they don't like it cause there is not really a landing out for them. I have not flown it yet. I'm a lazy bugger.

Option two
Again at Mt leinster. Again another good walk around the top of the hill to the south-east face part of the bowl. Again I'm a lazy bugger so haven't flown it.

Option three
Is Annagh hill which another 15/20km north-east of Mt Leinster. Again this is a favoured spot for the HG/PG guys. Unfortunately you need a 4x4 to get up the farm track to the top. I can shuttle people but again it's not ideal!

There is a small coastal site very close to me that is south-east so I usually fly there instead of heading to Mt Leinster and walking. Did I mention I'm a lazy bugger!  :D

I'll be there!

Other option, well, if only I was not as lazy as Joe and had finished the tow plane, would be to have an aerotow day...  :?:

Anyway, I'm up for ML, I'll get there early! Last May, we flew thermal there, and that was great !  :D

But I will follow the majority anyway.

Seems to me that if the wind is from the E / SE a slope facing that direction would be best. Being a coastal slope the air is smoother as well.

I vote for that one. Option 4.(But then I'm not driving from far away.)

And by the way, I'm not lazy,.....I'm just old!

Hi Guys,
Unless we can get access to the top slopes,or are willing to walk a long way, there will be little 'slope' soaring up on Leinster this weekend.
I was really looking forward to this but wallowing around is not for me while there are nearly perfect conditions for flat field flying.
So I'm voting for option 5, unless things improve.
