Scale / Pilatus B4 build
« on: January 02, 2008, 20:24:41 PM »
Looks very good.    Hope to get going on mine again soon. I got the wood, piano wire joiner and airbrakes from Topmodel with the DG-1000. All i need now is the motivation.

I put F11 in and didnt notice until later that it was wrong. I had to glue another piece of ply to it to get it to the right profile.

I think the one here is the same but a bit longer: www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=22874

It has the same part number on the MP Jet website: www.mpjet.com/market/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=312

I'm worried about the link popping off the ball too. I think I'll get a screwed horn like this one:  www.topmodel.fr/product_detail.php?id=6819

Or maybe one of these: http://alshobbies.com/shop/lookupstock.php?pc=8166&Desc=

Did you use the supplied pushrod for the rudder?

Hi Fred
Never used carbon joiner before. Will look into that.

I never thought about having to modify the formers    I'll have to get the fuselage out and see if it is possible.

That is a bit much for the postage.  The saving would be cancelled out by the postage.
Not sure what to do with the airfoil. I cant imagine the one on the plan being very accurate on the outer wing panel when the sandwich method is used. Which Quabeck airfoil are you using?
Was looking at the rosenthal site. They use HQ2,5.
www.rosenthal-flugmodelle.com/fuselages.html
This other one uses HQ2   www.icare-rc.com/pilatus_b4_300.htm

It must be about 3 or 4 years since I built the fuselage but I'm pretty sure I did as you said and built one side and then glued the formers to it one at a time. I also used small pieces of ply across the former joins.

Thanks for that Alan. :)
I see they sell airbrakes also. I didnt fancy making the ones shown on the plan.

Hi Peter
Yeah. I'm building the same version. Have the fuselage nearly built.
Think I might try Inwoods because there are few other bits and pieces I need. How much did they charge for postage? Also, did they give you the grades of balsa you asked for?
Were you able to get the wing joiner anywhere? I was thinking about using piano wire and brass tube instead.

Just wondering where wood can be bought around Dublin. Last time I bought it was from WJ Owens in Bray. Such a pity thats gone.
Need it for the wings of a Pilatus B4 I started a few years ago but never finished.
Are there any good online shops?
