89” clipped wing Cub for auction
« on: February 05, 2015, 16:30:00 PM »
Eight or Nine years ago I watched this “Clipped Wing” Cub flying in the skies over Ferns, Co. Wexford. It flew very well until it experienced a mid air collision with another model which damaged the tail of the Cub causing it to crash.
The owner of the Cub offered the airframe to me, with a new tail, (which he just happened to have lying in his garage strangely enough,) as I had an interest in Scale models at that time.
In reality my interest in things ‘Scale’ was only fleeting and I never did anything with this airframe. It has sat in my garage loft ever since.
The previous owner used a 25cc Zenoa two stroke engine on it which gave the model power-a-plenty

Although I doubt this model will ever win any scale awards again it wouldn’t take too much effort to return it to flying order. It doesn’t have any servos or electronics in it, it’s just the airframe (The new tail will graft straight onto to the fuse.) I though it could make a useful glider tug. :?:  However that was 8 or more years ago and the time has come for it to go. If no one wants it, it‘ll be cremated.

It’s for sale by auction. All bids to be posted on this forum and all proceeds will go to charity. Highest bidder wins of course and the auction will end at midnight on Saturday 28th February.

Little Keith

So gentlemen,.......what am I bid???

That's a 1/4 scale Taylorcraft amigo, though Taylor and Piper were friends in the old days, H9 product or more likely Top Gun on your end.
I owned one of these before selling it on some years ago. Powered by Zenoah 26. They are a plesure to fly and I hope someone picks it up and makes it flyable again.

Many thanks Bill,

Actually I forgot to give you the two engine cowlings that were in the front passenger foot-well of my car.  I can’t believe that model will be flying anytime soon so I’ll pass the cowlings over to you when we next meet.

Thanks again for taking the plane off my hands.

I think I got the good end of the deal Keith. Bit of work to do, but nothing I can't cope with. I won't be down in April, (well I don't think I will!), but I'm sure JP would bring the cowls up for me
Should make a lovely tug when done.
