Pilatus B4

Alright, time to build something!  :D

Got a fuselage for the B4 a little while ago from Frederic (fully paid in Guinness and various other beverages that make you happy after a few...) and if you know Frederic, it is not really a bargain!

Anyway, time to get some projects moving forward!
WS is about 4.3m, and plan is to have it finished by the end of the month...

Starting with the wings... I could not get some foam cut for the wings, so I took an executive decision, and draw a plan quickly to have it done in wood instead...
Easy wing to draw, took me about an hour of work. Then Laser, and 20 minutes later, got a nice kit for the wings  :D

Materials are a mix of 3mm plywood and 3mm balsa.
Assembly is straight forward and really easy.
Spar is 8x8, false LE in 5x5 pine.
Sheeting will be done in plywood (0.4mm).

Started Wednesday, and 1/2 wing is ready to be sheeted, just waiting for the wood to arrive. Second half should be done next week and hope to have them fully sheeted next week end!
Well, that's the plan anyway!

Nothing special, have more photos of the build, I'llpost them later  :D

Look forward to  seeing how this goes. Will there be a short kit for the complete model, please? Need a builder for prototype kit?

Thanks Alistair  :D
No kit planned, but don't tempt me! I have enough projects for the next 20 years or so!  :P
I can put the plan for the wings to download anyway, if someone is planning to build a B4 this size using the full size wing profile...

Anyway, did a bit more work, mainly cosmetic, all ready for sheeting now.

Airbrakes slots are now filled with... airbrakes  :P

Fuselage is prepared to get the wings

And all put together to have an overall look at the beast :

Not bad for a few hours of work (about 4hrs of build so far...)

So, next step is to glue the wing joiner's tubes in the wings, and start the sheeting.
Plan is to have the wings fully sheeted, ready for the servos this week end  :D

Thanks Alan  :D

Plan is to have it finished for the Falaise Aerotow Meeting, the 15th of September.
If still alive, will of course bring it at Mt L  :D

Nan, celui la, c'est un Made in Brive La Gaillarde  :D

L'autre, c'est un Rosenthal ou un Gewalt. Faut que je le descende  :D

Sorry, French talks about origins of the fuselage. The one I have is made by Frederic and his brother.
I also have another one, but from Gewalt or Rosenthal, can't remember,  in my garage  :D

Hello,
Salut,

It's wonderfull !
Jolies les nervures en bois d'arbre !

Think you have strong wings with wood construction? I still think it takes much rigidity.
Tu pense avoir des ailes bétons avec la construction en bois ?
Je pense quand même qu'il faille beaucoup de rigidité.

Sympa le fuselage de chez Holland Models !
More water !

Na, should be fine.
D box in 0.8mm plywood, fibreglass / carbone on the TE etc, should be more than OK  :D
