Hi Richard,
Very nice.
What size is that, what motor etc ??
Your entry level depends very much on what 'you' can do.
Will you travel down south for comps or is this for fun.
If down here we have ;Sports,Masters and FAI classes.
You will likely be Masters or straight into FAI F3A.
We have a two tier F3A class for judging purposes.

First you need to fly and trim that model. I do not mean trim the tranny.
Get it to track straight up and down verticals, roll on its axis ,loop/ bunt straight and knife edge with no roll or pitch coupling.
You should be able to get that to roll, at approx 1/2 throttle, like its running along a wire with no visible corrections.
This will take you a while especially in this weather.

Let me know what level you think you may want to start at and I will get schedule details for you.
Look forward to see you participate.

Dear All,

Stephans article in the "Aufwind" inspired me so much that I just need to come to Irland for flying... I'm on a business trip in Dublin next week and decided to arrive already on Friday in order to fly these great slopes you have. I contacted Joe already and he recommended Mt. Leinster as well. Will anyone be there next weekend? Can anybody recommend a place to stay for Saturday?
Thank you!

Greetings from the really flat area of Munich,
Karl

Hi,
The most safest foam kicker is water.
You can moisten one surface first and/or atomise some water on the area after assembly (this is best for alignment).
The reaction is a little slower than with normal kicker.

Hi Aidan,
I got those props today.
You are correct about the out of balance.
However they do seem to pull more but the motor gets warm quickly at high power level. I hope it will be ok.
We'll see of Fri,, or Sun,, .
It will take 30 mins approx for you to get over.

Hi Dave,
Dessie in our club flew that model with that motor on Sun,, last.
He had too much power,,,,,on a 2's 400mAh,,,, I kid you not.

Hi Dave,
What kV is that motor ?.
You might consider a GWS ,or some other rubber, propeller.
We had our first go at this on Sunday and it takes getting used to.

Hi Aidan,
Thanks, I've just ordered some 8x4 & 8x4.3's.
The new packs may be part of the problem as well, my 5000's always take 10 to 15 cycles to get going properly.
The ESC default is 'soft' so I'll try medium later in the week.
This indoor flying is good fun, a real do or die scene.

Make an effort for Fri,, .We got a good deal on the hall but we are the 2'nd cousins there, with GAA activity coming first.
Our official time is 7 to 9 but we may be able to squeeze in after 6.00pm.It would be a pity if you missed out.
Any interest in Sun,, mornings ??.

Hi Aidan,
Gws 7x3,5 and new TP350 and FP350's.
Not run in yet.
I know ,within reason, that a bigger prop will help but only for a minute or so. Then the pack volts will drop off .
My model is 150g.

I still would like info,, on best timing setting ??

Brian.
