Slope Soaring / Hai 1 - A glider wich fits into a suitcase
« on: February 19, 2008, 22:30:21 PM »
Hi folks
I decided to join the Island Slope Rebels Fly In in Mai, however Ireland is just to fare away to take the car for a short weekend trip  . Thus the airplane is the only choice to get there quickly, and when it should be within the budget the cheep ones are the only feasible. However then each bag you take counts  thus to take a model airplane is somewhat complicated. After some research however, I finally found what I was looking for. A glider which fits into the following boundary conditions:
it has to be a wooden construction
a small glider which I can put into my bag
a glider which can stay strong winds and give you a lot of fun
a glider easy and quickly to build
    which is not to expensive

 whow, that’s quit a list, however I got it. It is the Hai (Shark) from Wolfgang Werling presented some years ago in the FMT, a German Model Airplane magazine. The magazine and the plan was already sold out, however via the internet I could get one. The short-kit is ordered and as soon as it arrives I will start the construction. So see you
Cheers

Hi Fred
I am wondering whether Mt Leinster has always a sunny blue sky, because I will not make 1000 of kilometers to find a foggy and rainy slope  :!:

Hi Fred
I know the Flair homepage, but nothing is said whether its being up date. At least some links are obsolete. TopModel in Switzerland is the only one the PT17 ist still listed. I will contact some of the German dealers.
Thanks for your input and don't tell Vincent that I am looking out for a nitro airplane   well finally it's AndrĂ© with his towing(remorqueur ?) subject who pushed me to look for it and I have a still flying PT17 50km from my home. But to make it realy nice it have to have a radial engine and this guys are realy expensive
cheers

Hi Joe
I think you are almost done and after this nice Retroplane meeting you should highly be motivated. With regard to the design I attached a picture of the one we talked about that week-end. Close to my design but somewhat different anyway.

Cheers
