Hi all,

Looks like I might be free on Sunday  :?:

Now, for the slope, Richard, what is your view on the top for landing?
If I bring a 5m glider, is there space to land? (flat enough)
I had a quick look on the interweb, and hillwalking sites. Top, if I am looking at the same slope, seems rocky  :?:
Plan is to fly a bigish glider, then, we'll know everything else will fly there! :D

Anyway, if we can fly 360 degrees, that looks like a possible very nice site for cross borders meetings  :D
Education is important, but flying RC planes and gliders is importanter!

Hi Fred I'm unsure about this Sunday as the kids could be coming. I will let u know tomorrow.
Winds are looking good and from the north west !!
The top of the mountain is mainly heather !!! Landings should not be a bother to a man of you skills and talent lol
If you do need help I'm sure Andrew will land your big bird for you lol

Yeah, let me know. We can plan something for the week end after anyway. Only Sunday free for me for a few hours.

Good evening to all :)
Apologies for the silence, work and all that  :!:

Anyway, as we say, Vini, Vidi, Vici!

Well, Vici, is a big word, but we tried!  :D

So, for the slope, it is very easy to access it, thanks to the motorway being right at the foot of it  :D  You get the bonus of a very nice view too!
But unfortunately, you can't really fly at 360 degrees like it was hoped

The westerlies side is the trouble one, the landing zone being quiet bumpy with a few small pine trees in the slope (very small ones and far away from each others if you see what I mean).
There is a good landing spot, that should work fine, but unfortunately, the day we were over there, the wind played balls! JP had some good flying, but the time to get there with Joe, the wind started to turn around and was slowly dying  :!:  We should have met earlier at the slope I guess, as the wind dropping was planned...

Anyway, the Easterlies side looks great! And down the road, still on the East side, looks like the slope is fantastic! 180 degrees flying at least, with smooth slopes, and what looks like bucket of room to land pretty much anything.

Maybe Joe and JP can confirm?

Oh, and this is where you get the best view too :)

So, many thanks to everybody for coming to check it out (JP, Richard, Joe), was a good day out, and now, we know! Another good site to put on the list, and great spot if you are living North of Dublin.

Here are a few photos...

The view to the east:

The view from the West:

We certainly were at the best spot for this slope, in a landing point of view.

Joe brought his new Quark. Great finish
Finished it at the car park, in a true sloper's way

Joe did the first flight that day... Unlucky, when he launched, this is the exact moment the wind decided to die and shift 45 degrees! Unlucky or what?! The Quark flew down, out of view
Joe went for the walk of shame, certainly expecting to bring it back in a plastic bag...But...

Coming from down below, Joe with what looks like an still new Quark!
And it was! Not a scratch! unbelievable!

But the long walk down took its tool!    :P

Anyway, a good day out!
After about 3 hours up there, time to go home, decided to explore the area a bit more next time. Looks like lots of potentials for the guys living North  :D

And a few more photos
