A little more done on the 787 tonight. I need the engines to be able to take the full force of landing, therefore I filled the foam and used epoxy/glass to form a hard shell around the engine pods. Next a coat of paint, and that should finish the engines, ready to be installed onto the wings!!

I found a wee bargain at Lidl today, 400ml cans of clear and coloured gloss Lacquer for £2.49 a can. I used the some tonight and it worked fine, however it is not great on foam, but if you paint with water based paint, the clear lacquer can be used over it to produce a high gloss finish!.

Another few hours spent on the 787 tonight, with the tailplane covered, the fin covered and the engine pods covered and painted.

The tailplane was first re-inforced with glass tape, then covered in solar film and finished with silver trim line.

The fin was covered in brown paper, then covered in solar film. The brown paper adds extra strength to the fin with little weight and gives a nice finish and a good base for the film.

The engine pods where covered in solar film , with foam paint added. The pods will take alot of force when landing, therefore I added cardon rods,pushed inside the foam to give them extra strength.

Next I will get the engines finished and painted, then finish the fuselage.

Hi Andrew, thats a good idea, I will fit a release hook later onto the 787 when I have her flying off the slope.

I done a little work tonight on the model,the port engine is now finished, however the paint work is a little poor because I had a problem with the silver paint, which reacted with the undercoat and had to be scraped off and a new undercoat applied.The surface of the engines are a bit rough, but in the air you will not notice them. Here's a few pics:..

Hi Guys

I finished the wings tonight and started on the fuselage. The fuselage has been given a complete coat of light filler to remove the dents and gaps. This will be sanded down and then glassed this weekend hopefully :?: Some photos on the progress so far:
